Serra Club International President John Liston Forwarded from Always Forward, Never Back:
Five Years Ago Today, Blessed Junipero Became a Saint.
It was a hot day and the lines were long in Washington, D. C.on September 23, 2015, when His Holiness Pope Francis canonized our patron, St. Junipero Serra. To keep their spirits and to pass the time while waiting among thousands to get to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Serrans from Mexico cheerfully sang "Siempre Adelante", and the crowd moved forward!
St. Junipero has faced many challenges to his legacy in the past year, but we celebrate him as our patron, our inspiration, and our mission's personal ally in the communion of saints.
